بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
اسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

I must be, the worst blogger ever. How come I could have only 1 update for every two months? And I haven't finish blogging about my last trip but I have went on another? Well, today, I decided to finish the blog entry about my Swiss trip in December 2014.

First of all, if you are travelling to Switzerland for 4 days minimum, I highly recommend you to buy the Swiss Pass. The pass enables you to hop on any trains, cable cars, buses, or boats that participate for no charge given that you have the pass with you at all time. Some trains or cable cars company which does not participate do charge a certain amount of price up to 75% from original price provided that you show them your Swiss Pass. Swiss Pass could be bought from Rail Pass Switzerland. You could purchase the pass upon arrival at the airport or have it mailed to your doorstep for some extra handling fee.

So, I shall begin my Swiss trip.

  • Language: German, French, Italian
  • Currency: Swiss Franc (CHF) [1GBP=1.43CHF] [1EURO=1.03CHF] [1MYR=0.26CHF]

Day 1 :

We arrived from Venice at Geneva Airport. Took a train to Lucerne, catch a boat to foot of Mount Rigi, hop on a huge cable car and another train up top to Mount Rigi. The view is priceless. We wanted to go to Mount Pilatus as well but the cable car was closed due to winter season.

Tips

  • Check which route are eligible for you to use your Swiss Pass and what means of transportation are included. Click HERE.

The second train up to Mount Rigi.

View from Mount Rigi. Subhanallah. MasyaAllah.

We spent one night at Lion Lodge Lucerne. It's a decent travelodge with adequate facilities and price. Can't expect much from Swiss accommodation. Every thing is fairly hefty.

Day 2 :

We had a brief sightseeing of Lucerne and hopped on another train to Interlaken. We stayed at Hotel Beausite Budget. The room is AMAZING! Even though we had to share bathrooms (read:budget) but the facilities are beyond words. For the quids we paid, we are very satisfied.

The famous Lucerne  Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge)

A small town, Grindelwald. About 1 hour train ride from Interlaken West.

Day 3 :

Hence begin, our top mission for Swiss. To visit Jungfraujoch, the top of Europe. With the Swiss Pass, everything was paid for up to half of the journey. We have to pay the rest half for 25% off the original price. One side note, It. was. expensive. But again, this is Switzerland, can't really expect cheaper.

Lauterbrunnen, on the way up to Wengen. This is where the famous Staubbachfall waterfall is situated. We were at the waterfall, but it was winter and the water is frozen solid.

Wengen, not yet halfway to Jungfraujoch. It's a ski heaven for ski lovers. This is where you have to pay for the ride to Jungfrau even with the Swiss Pass.

Last but not least, Jungfraujoch. Top of Europe. One word, Subhanallah.

Day 4 :

The end of our Swiss trip. Hopped on the plane to London Heathrow and that was it. The end of our winter trip. It was a solid, soundproof end to an amazing year for us. Alhamdulillah.
