Discover Italy [ Stunning Italian Riviera ]

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
اسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Hello. I am back after so many weeks of unplanned hiatus. Study has been super hectic. Long am to pm classes, assignments, debate, ah, can't really bothered to write everything here since this post is dedicated to the astonishing Italian Riviera, Cinque Terre.

So, we left Rome after staying there for 1 night. The journey from Rome to Florence took more or less 3 hours and a half. Luckily at hour 1, we got the whole seat box(?) to ourselves.

Arrived in Florence around 10 pm, caught a local bus (by the way you have to prepare exact change for the fares or buy pre-paid tickets beforehand) & head to our B&B.

First thing in the morning, we took a train to La Spezia. Our initial plan was to visit Pisa. But time restricts, so we decided to go to Cinque Terre straight away.

In La Spezia station, there is a local agent selling passes to all of the attractions by Italian Riviera. I could not recall how much the passes were for the life of me. But it was around 15-20EURO per person.

Please beware of the gypsies at the station. They are very persuasive & would not leave by your side until you give them some cash. Luckily we were told by a lady beforehand to avoid any eye contact whatsoever when they approached us. They'll go away after a while.

Tips

  • Cinque Terre is a portion of the Italian Riviera. There 5 main villages which are the main attractions. The villages are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola & Riomaggiore.
  • It is advisable to start with the furthest village, Monterosso and make your way to Riomaggiore.
  • Each train departs about 2 hours apart from each station and connects to the other.
  • Check HERE for further understanding.
  • DON'T FORGET TO VALIDATE YOUR TICKET! If you already bought a pass, you only need to validate once.
Vernazza is a local fisherman village. Nothing spectacular about the village, but the cliff was pretty. Corniglia however is a secluded village reachable by flights of stairs. Amazing village by the hill but we were not able to obtain a decent photo at both villages. It was cloudy and the lighting was not that good. The next two villages however, are the exact same beauty as we dreamt it to be.

Beauté. No words. This is Manarola.

Riomaggiore at dusk. Beauty at its best.

Take note that these villages have no halaal food, so packed foods are very much recommended. Went back to Florence which took another 3 hours and half by train, and slept like a baby that night. We woke up next morning & head to Venice first thing. That post shall come later.
