Discover Iceland [ Part 4 : Golden Circle ]

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
اسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Our fourth day in Iceland was rather short. It was a half-day tour known to many as The Golden Circle. Golden Circle normally consists of a tour to the Gulfoss Waterfall, The Geysir and Thingvellir National Park.

On this particular day, Nordic Visitor assigned us to a new, rather small company known as Iceland Horizon

Our mode of transportation was a 12-seater Mercedes Benz and it was a comfortable one.

Our first stop was the Gulfoss Waterfall. Dooley (Dooley's Tour Guide Facebook Page), our tour guide informed us that the waterfall would be (almost) completely frozen in the winter. We were awestruck due to the fact the waterfall was a giant one. If it could froze, that means Iceland's temperature are very extreme in the winter. Gulfoss is also known as the Golden Waterfall. The stream was so strong, it almost completely muted your voice if you stand near enough.

Spot the tiny humans near the waterfall.

We were given approximately 1 hour to enjoy this amazing mother nature and continued to our next stop, the Geysir. The geysir is an underground volcano activity that often periodically spout hot springs in southwestern Iceland. The temperature could reach up to 100 degree Celcius for each spout. It was continuously boiling and gushes of hot water will shower you from time to time if you stand near enough. Enjoy the video as you please. :)

Our next destination was the Thingvellir National Park. On our way there, Dooley was kind enough to have a mini break at a horse farm and let us take some photos of Icelandic horse. Did you know, Icelandic horse are amongst the strongest horse breed in the world. They could stand harsh weather and extreme workloads. They also loves staying outdoors especially during winter time. Such a rebel isn't it?

Thingvellir National Park is the site where the Parliament of Iceland was founded. It is also a site where the visible end of the  United State of America's tectonic plate. Yeap, America. Dooley informed us that the other end of this visible plate we saw is in California. Yeap yeap. Still boggling my mind till this day.

The rock formation seen on the left is the edge of the plate.

With Thingvellir, our Iceland excursions ended. We were beyond satisfied even though we didn't get the chance to visit Iceland in the winter to witness the Aurora Borealis. It's okay. There is always next time InsyaAllah.

See you again, Iceland!
